Airbnb hosts partner with Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger

When Airbnb’s Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights Home Sharing Club was formed, it laid out three main goals: organize hosts and small businesses in the community, inform elected officials of the value of home sharing to their families and neighborhoods, and work together on local community service projects.

In furtherance of these goals, the home sharing club recently partnered with the Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger (BSCAH), the largest food pantry in Brooklyn. Founded in 1998, BSCAH served over three million meals to New Yorkers in the last year alone. BSCAH takes great care to empower their clients to select their own fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and other pantry staples, much like they would in a grocery store.

Last month, fourteen hosts from the Bed Stuy and Crown Heights Home Sharing Club, nine of their guests, as well as members of the community came together to package up and distribute over 400 turkeys and Thanksgiving meals to New Yorkers.

As long-time members of their communities, Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights Home Sharing Club members will continue to  support local organizations in their neighborhoods in 2017.
