Noah Lukeman has been a friend of the organization for more than six years. We met him through his personal venture, Project Oatmeal. Noah shared the following as his inspiration, “At the top of the “most needed” food list is oatmeal. Oatmeal is desirable for many reasons: it is Inexpensive, highly nutritious, light to transport and has a long shelf life; it also lowers cholesterol, is a good breakfast food, and is safe for all stratums of society, from children to the elderly. It also tends to put a smile on people’s faces.” To date, through Project Oatmean, Noah has facilitated a cumulative donation of more than $127,000 and purchased approximately 700,000 meals for hungry New Yorkers.
Noah’s latest venture with Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger is entitled Project Turkey. This project focuses on sharing whole turkeys with our client-families on Thanksgiving. Last year, Noah and his friends raised more than $10,000 for this purpose.
Noah is our hero because of his understanding of and dedication to our mission. All people should be treated with dignity, respect and have access to quality food. Noah is a prize winning author, editor and an amazing husband and father – and he still finds time to prioritize our work.
Thank you Noah!
